‘Reading habit must be encouraged’

A seminar on ‘Keram Keralam,’ organised by the Coir Board was held on Thursday, on the sixth day of the Kochi International Book Fair.

Coir Board Chairman G Balachandran, Madanan, M Kumara Raj, M Kumara Swami Pillai, V Babu, A K Rajan, Komala Kumar spoke at the seminar.

Speaking during the prize distribution ceremony of the fair, cine artist Major Ravi lamented that the reading habit was on the decline among the younger generation. “With the advent of the e-age, students

have an all too-easy access to information, which has led to the dependency on reading books. Parents should lead by example and encourage children to read and think independently,” he said.
