Excise Minister K Babu on Sunday inaugurated the foundation-stone laying ceremony of the building to house the dialysis unit at Tripunithura Government Taluk Hospital. The project is being implemented using the fund allotted by the Minister from his development fund.
The minister said that the dialysis unit will be a huge relief for the people, especially in the Eastern part of the district.
“At present, the people have to depend on the Regional Dialysis Centre at Aluva and the dialysis unit at Ernakulam General Hospital (GH) for availing themselves of the treatment. Now, these units in the district are witnessing huge rush. Hence, many poor patients are forced to depend on private hospital to conduct dialysis despite the huge cost incurred. The proposed unit will be a solace for them,” he said.
“Tender procedures are completed and the work of the building will be completed within nine months,” he added. The 1,500-square feet building will comprise three rooms.K Babu also inaugurated the newly set up blood storage unit at the hospital in another ceremony held at the hospital on the day. Tripunithura municipal chairman R Venugopal was also present.
