KOCHI: NeST Group vice-chairman and managing director N Jehangir has been selected for the Dhanam ‘Businessman of the Year’ award for 2013.
The Dhanam Lifetime Achievement Award, instituted for the first time this year to mark the business magazine’s silver jubilee celebrations, will be given to P N C Menon, founder and chairman of Sobha Group. The awards will be presented at the 8th Dhanam ‘Business Summit and Award Nite’ to be held at Le Meridien Convention Centre here on Saturday.
The jury, chaired by financial expert and chartered accountant Venugopal C Govind, comprised of V A Joseph, managing director and CEO of South Indian Bank, journalist M K Das, and former winners of the award, C J George and V K Mathews.
The ‘NRI Businessman of the Year’ award for 2013 will be given to Varghese Kurian, chairman and managing director of Bahrain-based VKL Holdings. Coconut Development Board chairman T K Jose has been selected for the Dhanam ‘Management Leader of the Year’ award, in recognition of his ideas that aim at the comprehensive development of the society and his commitment towards the successful realisation of all projects.
Parveen Hafeez, managing director of Sunrise Group of Hospitals, who built a global chain of super-speciality hospitals based in Kochi, is the Dhanam ‘Emerging Woman Entrepreneur of the Year’ for 2013.
Sony Joy, co-founder, director and CEO of MobMe Wireless Solutions, who launched a new era in entrepreneurship in the state, is the winner of the Dhanam ‘Emerging Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ award.
The theme of the Dhanam Business summit this year is ‘Leadership in Challenging Times’ and the keynote address will be delivered by Sunny George Varghese, MD and CEO of Singapore-based Olam International.
