AIMS to Hold Diabetes Awareness Programme

KOCHI: The departments of endocrinology and ophthalmology at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) will organise various programmes as part of observing the World Diabetes Day. An awareness class will be held on the campus of the Amrita Brahmasthanam at Kunnumpuram from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on November 15. The class will be conducted by experts from the AIMS, and its topic will be ‘Diabetes and Related Eye Problems’.

  Patients who are interested in participating may contact 0484-4001099, 9400998248 or 0484-4007396, and register their names before November 10.  On the sidelines of the programme, a free medical check up will be conducted for persons suffering from diabetes-related eye problems at the ophthalmology department of the AIMS.

  In addition, a camp for children suffering from type-1 diabetes, and a cycle rally will be held on November 16.  On November 21, a quiz on diabetes, for high school students, will be conducted at Amrita Vidyalayam, Kunnumpuram. Also, a month-long exhibition on diabetes and an all-Kerala quiz for medical students will be held.
