Spice Coast Marathon to Promote Health

KOCHI: The Spice Coast Marathon that will be held here on November 16 aims to highlight the necessity of aerobic exercises, including running, to promote health care, said T C  Yohannan, former Asian Games gold medallist.

He was speaking at the function organised by the Coir Board to launch the coir medallion sponsored by the Board for all the participants who finish the marathon. S N  Tripathi, Chairman, Coir Board, presided over the event.

The Board has specially designed the medallion with coir polymer composite boards which is a new generation product made of natural coir.   Tripathi added that the Board would continue to support such ventures which would promote the use of natural fibres.

Ramesh Kartha, president, Soles of Cochin, the organisers of the Marathon, said the run would cover a distance of 42.2 km. The participants who complete the run will be awarded the medallion. M Kumara Raja, Secretary, Coir Board, also spoke.
