Directors' Union Backs Unnikrishnan

KOCHI: The Kerala Directors Union (FEFKA) which met here on Wednesday expressed its solidarity to general secretary B Unnikrishnan on the allegations against him regarding the uploading of superhit film Premam on Internet.  At a press conference in the middle of the meeting, the office-bearers who rallied behind the general secretary said they would take every possible thing to take director Anwar Rasheed, the producer of Premam who submitted his resignation from all the organisations including the directors union, along with them. “We will try our level best to make him withdraw his resignation. The executive committee will discuss his resignation letter and no hasty decision will be taken,” said Unnikrishnan.

President Kamal registered the protest of the Union in the manner in which reports were linked to Unnikrishnan and director Priyadarsan in the issue. “Their connection with the case is only technical as both of them head two studios. It is really disheartening to hear their names being dragged into the controversy personally,” he said.

Terming that most of the allegations against him are borne out of ‘complete technical illiteracy’, Unnikrishanan said, tha it was the assistant editor of Premam who used an edit suit at their studio for nine hours. He just enlarged some fonts in the statutory warning as suggested by the Censor Board. He brought the film in his hard disk and made changes accordingly,”  he clarified.
