Model Engg College Achieves 92 Percentage Placement for Students

KOCHI:  The Government Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, witnessed yet another exceptional placement season with top MNCs recruiting its graduates.

As of May 2015, 92 per cent of the students have already been placed with top companies around the country. With a few more weeks remaining to the placement season, the institution is expected to break all records this year. The highest pay package was offered by online retailer Myntra (`15 lakh per annum) and the top offshore pay was offered by ESRI (`34 lakh per annum). Dr Prof V P Devassia, principal of MEC, said that the students have been putting extra effort and this worked towards getting them placements with reputed companies. 

Dr Jayasree V K, placement officer, said, “The amount of industrial exposure the students get in the campus has been instrumental in making the students ready for the recruitment process.” 

MEC is the first Engineering college under the IHRD, government of Kerala and also the first to be affiliated to CUSAT. It is also the first affiliated Research Centre under the university. The affiliation will change from CUSAT to KTU, Kerala Technical University in 2015. Over the years, MEC has turned into one of the most sought after institutions by engineering aspirants in the state.
