Ex-panel Chief Arrested for Brewing Liquor

KOCHI: One the eve of the local body polls, the Excise sleuths on Wednesday arrested Alangad Panchayat Development Standing Committee Chairman and CPM party worker for illicit brewing of liquor and also seized 80 litres of wash and 1.5 litres of arrack from his house at Plamadathumpady in Maliyam Peedika.

The arrested has been identified as A C Radhakrishnan, an active CPM member in the area.

 The arrest was made following a tip of that he had been engaged in illicit brewing and its sale. The materials used for the brewing of liquor were also seized. He was produced before the local court and remanded for 14 days.
