KOCHI: The Kochi chapter of Young Indians (Yi), the youth wing of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), observed ‘No Horn Day’ on December 1, in association with the Indian Medical Association (IMA).

The programme was officially inaugurated at a function held at the Vyttila Mobility Hub. It was attended by Kochi Mayor Soumini Jain, Hibi Eden MLA, key office-bearers of the IMA, Yi volunteers, and students of SCMS and Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS).

The ‘No Horn Day’ was observed to create awareness on the ill-effects of honking in busy areas. Students from educational institutions from across the city, including Toc-H Public School, Girinagar-Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Thevara-St Thomas Girls High School, SCMS and RCSS explained the concept of the campaign to the public at junctions and key points in the city, using publicity materials like barouches and stickers. The ‘Horn Not OK Please (HNOP) campaign,’ which was originally launched by the Yi in Kochi four years ago, grew in its impact and strength across the country since then.
