KOCHI: A total of 35 school students have qualified for the national-level Mathematical Olympiad.
The regional competitions of the Olympiad, sponsored by the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) and coordinated by the Department of Mathematics under the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat), was held at the Cusat on October 9.
S Shreya of Saraswathi Vidyaniketan Public School, Elamakkara, emerged champion in the regional contest. Adwaith H Sivam of St Antony’s Public School, Anakkal, Kottayam; Allen Joseph of Government Model H.S.S, Cheeral, Wayanad; and Devika M Narayanan and Fathima Zarin Faizal of Saraswati Vidyanikethan Public School, Elamakkara, will be awarded the KSCSTE cash prize, the Prof C S Venkataraman Memorial Prize and the Prof Abdi Memorial Prize at a function be held in January 2017.
The others who qualified for the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (Inmo), to be held on January 15, 2017, on the Cusat campus, are Sherin K Karyil (Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Vidya Mandir, Thrissur); Yadukrishnan R Menon, Varada R, Samreen Sathar, Nachiket Dev, Ruben Aju George, Haneem E M, Akhil John Palathra, Abinav M, Abhirami R, Sandeep Kumar, Harishankar S K, Ruhi Elizabeth Thomas and Meenakshi C S (all from Saraswati Vidyanikethan Public School, Elamakkara); Arjun A and Shahnaz Shamim S (St Thomas Residential School, Thiruvananthapuram); Rajanarasimhan B (SBOA Public School, Ernakulam); Bazil Poulose (Vijaya H.S.S, Pulpally); Hrithik Nambiar and Ridhul Sambod (Navy Children School, Naval Base, Kochi); Diya S and Devika Rajeev (Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal); Gopika R (Providence Girls H.S.S, Kozhikode); Stephan Thomas Varghese (Loyola School, Thiruvananthapuram); Davin Mathews David (Nirmala Matha Central School, Thrissur); Sidharth V A (Harisree Vidyanidhi School, Thrissur); Alvin Ronni J (Bhavans Vidya Mandir, Girinagar); Sivaprasad S (GVHSS, Payyoli); Niranjana M (Savio HSS, Devagiri, Kozhikode); and Chethana Pradeep (Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School, Kakkanad).
