Amrita ranked best private varsity

Coimbatore-based Amrita University has emerged  the best private university and the ninth best Indian university in the ranking by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) - 2017.

KOCHI: Coimbatore-based Amrita University has emerged  the best private university and the ninth best Indian university in the ranking by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) - 2017. A report in this regard was released by Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar here on Tuesday.

Last year, Amrita University was ranked second and 14th respectively.   “It is great to secure top place among the private universities and to be ranked ninth overall in the NIRF ranking, right behind some of the most prestigious public-funded universities in the country,” said Amrita University Vice-chancellor P Venkat Rangan.

With 18,000 students, Amrita University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research university having NAAC accreditation (‘A’). It is ranked among the best research universities in the country.   The university, managed by Mata Amritanandamayi Math, is spread in five campuses in three states - Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
