Noopura: Creativity takes centre stage on penultimate day

The participants’ creativity took centre stage in the cartooning, painting, photography, poster designing and collage contests.

KOZHENCHERRY: The penultimate day of ‘Noopura’-2017, the MG University youth festival, on Thursday witnessed the participants’ creativity taking centre stage in the cartooning, painting, photography, poster designing and collage competition held at the stage VI Akbar Kakkattil Nagar( St Thomas College Seminar Hall).

In the cartooning competition, majority of the contestants opted for the politically and social relevant themes. Nature in its splendour was the favourite topic for several participants in the painting contest,with life sketches, folk art and culture depicted by some others.

Another high-octane competition was witnessed at stage II Suchitra Sen Nagar(College Ground) , where the Mohiniyattom contest took place.

The day also saw the participants enthralling the audience by playing the Western string and wind instruments and percussion,before a good turnout. The folk dance and group song competition were also a huge hit with the crowd.  


Meanwhile the title race is inching towards a thrilling climax. The Ernakulam colleges--  St Teresa’s, RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura; MES Marampally and Maharaja’s are leading the table. But with results of a few events yet to be announced and a couple of more competitions to be held on Friday, the fest is heading towards a tight finish.

Fest to conclude today
Noopura-2017, the MG University youth festival will conclude on Friday. The valedictory function at the Panchayat Ground in the evening will be a star-studded affair.

 Actor Kalidas Jayaram and Suraj Venjaramood, along with a few other celebrities, are scheduled to attend.  Filmmaker Abrid Shine has already been to the youth fest venue to scout for fresh faces for his upcoming flick ‘Poomaram’.
