Varsity’s step-motherly attitude slammed

The MG University ban on the private registration students showcasing their talents at the ongoing varsity youth festival has triggered an angry response from the parallel colleges.

The MG University ban on the private registration students showcasing their talents at the ongoing varsity youth festival has triggered an angry response from the parallel colleges.

According to the parallel colleges’ association, it amounted to discrimination against the private registration students.

“We too are students of the MG University. We follow the university syllabus and appear for the exams along with the regular students.

Again, it is the MGU which issues the certificates to us. But we are barred from taking part in the youth festivals and sports meets,” said Manoj K, a parallel college student, who was here to witness the fest.

“ This is a clear case of discrimination. Many of us had taken part in school youth festivals and by barring us from the competition, the varsity is denying us the chance to showcase our talents. It should take steps to end the discrimination,” he said.
