KOCHI: The police team probing the sexual assault on a Malayalam actor has decided to conduct polygraph on key accused Pulsar Suni, after many of his statements were found to be contradictory.
The prosecution raised the matter before the Aluva Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, when a petition filed by the police seeking custody of the accused came up for hearing.

The police will file a separate petition before the court seeking permission to conduct polygraph on the accused. Suni’s statements regarding ‘quotation,’ blackmailing and abandoning of mobile phone were found to be contradictory.

Suni reportedly told the officers he had abandoned his mobile phone containing video footage of the victim on roadside. Though an extensive search was carried out, the phone could not be traced. While the victim said Suni had told her he was ‘hired’ by someone to assault her, the accused told the police he committed the crime without any outside influence. Suni also said the motive behind the abduction was blackmailing and extortion.

On Saturday, the police raided a house on Junior Janatha Road at Ponnurunni near Kadavanthra, which was reportedly visited by Suni shortly after committing the crime. Two SIM cards, memory cards and a pen-drive were recovered in the raid.

Earlier, an associate of the accused was taken into custody from the house. The probe team has initiated procedures to question a woman with whom Suni reportedly maintained close relationship. A team has been sent to Coimbatore to trace a person who allegedly arranged mobile phone and SIM card for Suni, using fake address.

It is suspected the same person made all arrangements for Suni to evade the police until he was arrested the other day.

Meanwhile, attempts to trace the owner of the Pulsar bike, on which the accused reportedly travelled from Tamil Nadu to Kochi, failed.
