KOCHI: Five persons accused of assaulting three members of a Dalit family at HMT Colony here surrendered before the Kalamassery Police on Monday.
They have been identified as Binu Poulose, 27, Sunil Kumar, 33, Sharath Kumar, 24, Binu Soman and Praveen 24. According to police, the other accused in the case, Ajith Kumar, Parameswaran and Suresh alias Bheeman Suresh, are absconding.
A minor skirmish at a wedding party held in the colony on Saturday night escalated into a violent conflict between two groups. Sasthavu and Babu who were injured in the conflict have been hospitalised. Police have recovered a car used by the accused to visit Binu’s residence for retaliatory attack. The accused who surrendered will be produced in court on Tuesday.
