KOCHI: Railway Police on Monday arrested a travelling ticket examiner (TTE) of Southern Railway for misbehaving with a woman passenger under the influence of alcohol. Noushad, 52, of Dream House, Chandanathoppe, Kollam, who was on duty onboard the Mangalore-Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express, was arrested based on a complaint filed by a Wayanad-native.

The 21-year-old woman, who boarded the train to travel from Kozhikode to Thiruvananthapuram on a wait-listed ticket, alleged that Noushad asked her to occupy the berth allotted to him.

She alleged that as the train approached Shoranur station, Noushad, who was inebriated, started misbehaving with her. Soon, she shifted to another coach and filed a complaint with Railway Police when the train reached Thrissur. Later, Noushad was arrested at the Alappuzha railway station.

A case has been filed against him under IPC Section-119 (harassment of women in public place or indecent behaviour towards women). He was released on bail. Meanwhile, Noushad alleged that the woman was taking revenge against him for denying her berth.
