KOCHI: The third terminal of Cochin International Airport ltd (CIAL) is all set to be commissioned and the authorities here are busy giving it the final touches. The Rs 1,000 crore international terminal will be open for operations by the first week of March.

The new terminal at CIAL, the 4th largest international passenger traffic hub in the country, has more than double the capacity of the previous terminal. This will pave way for increased passenger traffic. It features 10 aero bridges and a state-of-the-art baggage sorting and scanning system.

It will also have state-of-the-art operational equipment, facilities and infrastructure for both airlines and passengers. Advanced CCTV surveillance system, flight information display system and IT equipment for AOCC, solar-roofed parking bays, taxi links and airfield ground lighting systems, piers, ramps, are some of the other features of the new terminal.
