KOCHI: Officers of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday arrested a Malappuram native from a Mumbai-bound train while trying to transport banned drugs.

They also seized around 11,000 Alprazolam tablets from Vinod K, 39, of Karattu House, Mankada, Malappuram. The contraband was concealed in a bag.

The accused was taken into custody from Mangala-Lakshadweep Express, based on a tip-off. “It is suspected that he has international links as he was trying to transport the drugs to Saudi Arabia via Mumbai. An investigation has been launched,” said NCB SP Venugopal G Kururp.
