Finance Minister Isaac to hand over DYFI house for poor families

KOCHI: Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac will hand over the first among the 13 houses constructed by the DYFI for poor families in connection with its 10th all-India conference scheduled to be held here next month, on Thursday.

The house which is being handed over is at Elamakkara. The key handing over ceremony will be held at SNDP Hall near St Antony’s Church on the Elamakkara-Thannikkal Keerthi Nagar Road.

The family of Vineesh, who died in judicial custody during the previous government’s tenure, is the beneficiary. The 550 square feet house was constructed in just 35 days.

M Swaraj MLA inaugurated the construction on December 19 last year. Janakeeya Bhavana Nirmana Committee comprising CPM members, followers, workers from different unions and organisations, individuals and philanthropists contributed to project, said a release issued by DYFI.

The other houses, which were constructed by DYFI block committees of the respective areas, will be handed over between January 26 and 30.
