KOCHI: The upper portion of a two-storey house at Ponoth Road near Desabhimani Junction here was gutted after a cooking gas cylinder caught fire and exploded on Tuesday evening.
The tenant on the second floor was not inside the house when the explosion took place around 6 pm. Three units of the Fire and Rescue Services, which rushed to the spot from Gandhi Nagar, took around two hours to douse the blaze. However, the fire fighters couldn’t ascertain the cause of fire.The officers suspect a short circuit might have set off the fire.
