Kochi: Four-member gang held for assaulting youth 

The Ernakulam North police have arrested a four-member gang on charges of abducting and attacking a youth after posing as Shadow police.

KOCHI: The Ernakulam North police have arrested a four-member gang on charges of abducting and attacking a youth after posing as Shadow police.Siju, 40, of Puthenveedu; Jossy, 39, of Mailadumthara; Rejeeb, 27, Palliparambil, all hailing from Santhipuram Colony at Thammanam, Palarivattom, and Gireesh, 37, of Krishnan Nivas, Aroor, are the arrested.

According to the police, the gang abducted Varkala native Anwar from Kaloor Junction and took him to a secluded place near Santhipuram Colony in Gireesh’s car and brutally assaulted him. “Earlier, the police had arrested Sreekuttan, brother of one of the accused Siju, with 1.5 kg of ganja.

The arrest was made based on the information passed on to the police by Shinto, a friend of Anwar. Later, the gang members came in search of the informer, but they abducted Anwar. He has suffered severe injuries in the assault,” the police said.
