KOCHI: The City Police have decided to reinvestigate the case against a Circle Inspector here,who was accused of taking money to settle a sexual assault case.
DCP A R Premkumar would head the probe, according to the police. The move followed the suspension of Ernakulam North Circle Inspector T B Vijayan, who was in charge of the investigation earlier.
The reinvestigation would focus on whether the CI had accepted the bribe from the sexual assault victim.
However, the action against the CI came in another case relating to the extortion of `1 lakh from a money lender for excluding him from Operation Kuber launched against the loan sharks during the erstwhile UDF Government’s tenure.
