KOCHI: A housing project for homeless widows will be launched in the Aluva Assembly constituency soon, said Anwar Sadath MLA.The project titled ‘Ammakilikoodu’ will be carried out with the support of NGOs, individuals and institutions.The first house under the project will be constructed at Mallussery on land provided by the Nedumbassery panchayat, and will be delivered to Mekkad-native Eliyamma Abraham.
The foundation stone of the house will be laid by actor Jayaram. In phase-I, two houses will be constructed with financial aid from Jyothi Laboratories. The third house will be constructed by the G P Charitable Trust headed by actor Dileep. “The project aims at providing shelter to homeless and poor widows. The cost of the houses, with 500 sqft area, will be `6 lakh each,” said the MLA. Earlier, actor Kunchacko Boban launched the logo of Ammakilikoodu.
