Women mainly fall prey to superstitions: Muktha Dabholkar

KOCHI: Muktha Dabholkar, daughter of slain rationalist Narendra Dabholkar and leader of Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti,  said women are the main victims of superstitions. 

She was addressing a convention organised by Yukthivada Padanakendram here on Saturday. According to Muktha, using religious pressure, people spreading superstitious beliefs conquer the minds of women. Later, they undergo mental and physical torture.

She said the Centre and state governments must introduce necessary laws which can prevent the spread of superstitious beliefs in society. 

The convention was organised on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Yukthivada Padanakendram. Chairman of the organisation A C George; honorary secretary Shanty Shivan; programme coordinator Babu G S and S Gopakumar  spoke. The convention will conclude on Sunday.
