Dancing to the rhythm

Dancer Aparna Vinod will be performing in the city tomorrow

KOCHI: A bharathanatyam recital by Bangalore-based dancer Aparna Vinod will be held at TDM hall, at 6.30pm on Friday. The performance will be backed with a live orchestra by Nandakumar Unnikrishnan, Aranya Narain, N Narayana Swamy and Vivek K Krishna.

Presently, Aparna is the director of Tarang Academy of Arts that offers training in bharatanatyam and hindustani vocal. Her performance has taken her across India under the guidance of Guru Bhanumathi and Guru sheela Chandrasekhar in Uzhavoor Bani. 


Aparna was passionate about dance from the age of five. She completed her Masters in Bharatanatyam from Tanchavoor University and Natya Visarada from Mumbai Gandharva Mahavidyalaya.

She bagged the Nriyasiromani award at Cuttack dance festival. Trained in hindustani vocals, she has also won  the Sangeeth Vibhakar award from Bhangeeya Sangeetha Parishad, Calcutta.


 Apart from her career as an artist, she is an MBA graduate in Finance. This is for the first time the city is witnessing Aparna’s performance.  The performer is being brought to Kochi by the Bank Employees Arts Movement Ernakulam in association with Ernakulam Karayogam.
