And while most of his friends were using their free time in playing computer games, he was busy developing android applications. Now, all of 14 and a ninth standard student of Marian Senior Secondary School in Kottayam, he already has a company of his own- ‘Zuo Developers’, which is specialising in developing apps.

Today, Yan is one of the most sought-after child speakers in Kerala and even across the country. He has given talks on international events such as the DroidSkilling Android Developer Skilling Programme in India where a few Googlers were also present.

Sunny Mathew, Yan’s father, says his son always held an interest in computers. “He used to tell us he wanted to attend all these classes. And we used to support him because we felt his interest was genuine. Yes, and we used to notice that he was always busy learning computer programmes through tutorials on the internet. My wife and I cautioned him to be careful about always being on the internet, but otherwise, we are happy in his pursuit to learn,” says Sunny, a businessman. His mother is an interior designer.

The apps he developed

My Kottayam: This app is made for people in Kottayam to book buses online through the secure site RedBus.in. Also, it helps them book groceries which are instantly available through eazyShopy.
TripMaker: It is an app combined with sites which enables flight booking, hotels and room booking, cabs and bus booking and even food services. This app helps you plan trips and makes them smoothly.
HealthMaker: The app provides a list of four main categories of nutrients you should have daily. Complete those four tasks and stay healthy.
