KOCHI: Expressing happiness on visiting Kochi again, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh reminisced the prominent projects which were initiated by the UPA government for Kochi and Kerala. 
Singh's mention of former Chief Minister K Karunakaran drew the applause of UDF workers gathered at the Ernakulathappan Ground. 

“I am happy Kochi Airport at Nedumbassery is the fourth largest in passenger movement in the country. I remember the contribution of K Karunakaran for initiating this people's project,” he said.
He noted the Integrated Petrochemical Complex at Kochi Refinery at a cost of Rs 15,000 crores was completed and spoke about the other big development projects. 

“Kochi Metro which will change the face of Kochi has completed its first phase and I strongly believe the second phase will be completed in time. The GAIL Gas Cracker project at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore will boost Kerala's economy"."Vallarpadam International Container Terminal will enhance the freight movement in India. Cochin Shipyard has already completed its expansion programme at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore."
