KOCHI: Often in schools we see that the teachers write a note on the diaries of the students so that the message is conveyed to the parents. But, sometimes it is difficult for the parents to keep a regular check on their children and the activities that happen in schools. As a solution to all these problems, Bizqubator-a kochi-based startup have come up with a digital school diary known as ‘skoolBeep’, founded by Anurag Gopinath which is an application for an easy and convenient school-parent communication.

And as many people rely on smartphones for information, we decided to develop this application so that information is conveyed to the parents without delay,” said Binoy John Parackal, director of marketing and sales. The application was first launched in the central schools at Kozhikode, then it gained popularity among other schools.

With the help of skoolBeep, teachers can collect attendance over the smartphone and if the student is absent, an automated absence notification is send to the parents. The application also provides a collated attendance report for class or the students for customizable duration.  There is a configurability wherein teachers can take multiple attendance both morning and afternoon hours subject wise.

The application also helps parents in getting both group and private messages. There are times when some parents who live abroad or in other places are not able to participate in the functions of their children in schools. Keeping in mind such situations, the application has a gallery where the teachers can share photos, audio and videos of the activities and celebrations at school with the parents. The calendar present in the app is a reference for all the school and student activities. Other informations like holiday list, customizable event reminders for parents and event attendance confirmation report from parents.

There is a private message category where there is a one-to-one communication between parent and school. No two parent can communicate with each other and message or reply from one parent will not be seen by any other parent. In one school, any number of teachers can be admins. In addition to this, six people can use this app for a single child to get the school updates. The custom templates helps in creating certificates and progress cards. The app is also designed in such a way that there is complete security to the child. Real time location tracking of the schoolbus is provided where the number of the driver is connected to the app and the vehicle can be tracked easily. Live speed information of the school along with the trip status notification facility is also present.

As of now, the subscription rate is Rs 100 for a year for a child. Currently SkoolBeep is used by 500 education institutions across Kerala,Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for their daily engagement with parents, benefiting 1.8 Lakh students.
