The Indo-French co-operation: A travelling photography exhibition

‘A world in common’, a travelling photography exhibition, highlights the projects completed inIndia in collaboration with the French Development Agency.

KOCHI: From boosting urban development plans in Kochi, to protecting the rich bio-diversity of Assam, through illuminating Jodhpur’s streets, everything has been highlighted in the photography exhibition ‘A World in Common’ being held at the Chavara Culture Centre, Kochi. This is a collaboration between India and the French Development Agency (AFD) and is a part of Bonjour India, a four-month long celebration that began in November.

Around 35 photographs have been displayed. It showcases the Kochi metro rail project and its achievements, how it has empowered women, and the green initiatives and the various digital solutions undertaken by them. Through these activities, they have tried to bring out positive solutions for the people and the environment.It also throws light on the collaboration between India and AFD on different projects. Eleven big panels from the exhibition are on display in four Kochi metro stations till February 28, when the exhibition concludes.  

The AFD has supported the Kochi metro rail project since its inception. It has also facilitated a technical cooperation between the Kochi Metro Rail Limited, the French NGO Codatu and the Lyon Transport Authority. This programme has contributed to developing a comprehensive vision of urban mobility in Kochi. All these have been displayed in the form of photographs so that the people can be aware of the developments.

Apart from Kochi, the AFD has been associated with many projects in other states. The exhibitions are being held in other cities for a span of 10 days. “We have been working in India for more than 10 years now,” said Nicolas Fornage, AFD director for India.
