KOCHI: The United States is willing to promote startups in India by providing mentorship and facilitating the young entrepreneurs connect with the US Industries, said Robert G Burgess, US Consul General in Chennai, here on Friday.

“The startups here are doing amazing work developing cutting edge technology. The US has lot of experience working with young entrepreneurs and mentoring startups. We work with different organisations providing support to young entrepreneurs and helping them connect with angel investors who have experience in running business. I am impressed to learn that some of the entrepreneurs here have already contracts with major US business houses. Such relationships will be mutually beneficial,” he told Express during a visit to hardware startup incubator Maker Village in Kochi.

Burgess said the U S Consulate will facilitate Indian startups to connect with industry organisations in the US. India and the US co-hosted the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad last year, which brought together around 1,500 entrepreneurs along with mentors, financiers and other players. That was a very high profile and useful event, he said.
