Kerala nurses' pay hike: Hearing this month

The case is due for hearing this month in the high court as the apex court had last month asked the High Court to hear the case, while refusing to entertain KPHA’s plea to stay the government order.

KOCHI: Kerala Private Hospitals’ Management Association (KPHA) president Dr Muhammed Rashid said, “What the associations have failed to mention is the number of hospitals that will have to shut down if they are asked to pay the arrears to the nurses as per the new scale. Some hospitals have only given a 12-15 per cent increment till the verdict is pronounced.”

The case is due for hearing this month in the high court as the apex court had last month asked the High Court to hear the case, while refusing to entertain KPHA’s plea to stay the government order.
UNA, too, had approached the court stating not all the deserving raises were given. KPHA had previously demanded the nurses’ associations maintain status quo as the latter have also objected to the notification albeit the demand being the opposite to that of KPHA.
