KOCHI:Customs Commissioner (Kerala) Sumit Kumar has taken to Facebook revealing threat to his life from smuggling syndicates, including some with international links operating in Kerala, after the Customs started busting the rackets.“Friends, I deal daily with smugglers inside and out of my formation and their friends/abettors in and out of uniform. I get direct or indirect threats, pressures, to get into the passive mode.
However, since I am not careerist or office seeker and almighty, my parents, family have given me far more than I need, I am largely immune to such persons and threats,” Sumit Kumar said in a Facebook post.
The officer wrote he cannot be silenced even if he was transferred or action initiated against him.
“You can get me transferred, kicked out of my charges, even take my life, but you cannot buy my silence, and/or push me into passive action. I will hit with all the power and terminate your anti-national activities with extreme prejudice. I have Mataram protecting me as an angel 24/7. Jai Hind,” he said.
Sumit said he is a grandson and son of freedom fighters and acclaimed public servants who gave all for the nation and the Constitution that all public servants are sworn to uphold.Sumit Kumar said not only him, his senior officers and his team also deal with such threats as they are fighting against national and international cartels.
When contacted, Sumit Kumar said his Facebook post was not referring to any specific incident or case.
“I have been receiving such threats ever since I started my service. During my posting at different places, I have been dealing with smugglers,” he said.
