KOCHI: Refuting allegations that a senior CPM leader in Ernakulam district was involved in the arrest of Sreejith, the youth from Varapuzha who died following alleged custodial torture, CPM district secretary C N Mohanan said the party didn’t have any issues with the family of the deceased.

“We don’t have any role in the incident. After all, we never had any issue with the family. He was arrested in connection with the suicide of Vasudevan, who was a CPM supporter. Even if he was involved that doesn’t justify the police excess. The government had promptly initiated action against the officers involved in it,” he said at the Press Club here on Saturday. C N Mohanan said all the issues were solved during the past three years.
