Six killed, three injured in car accident in Mumbai

The victims had come from Surat, Gujarat and were headed to Mumbadevi temple, said the police.

MUMBAI: Six persons including two children were today killed while three others sustained serious injuries when the taxi they were travelling in hit a road divider on the eastern freeway here, police said.

The accident occurred at around 9 AM near Wadi Bunder when the vehicle carrying nine persons was headed to Mumbadevi temple in South Mumbai, they said.

The victims, all residents of Surat, were going to offer prayers when the driver lost control and dashed the vehicle on the road divider, police said.

The onlookers soon alerted the police after which all the injured were rushed to J J Hospital.

Six of them were declared brought dead while the rest were admitted to the ICU.

The deceased have been identified as Rajkumar Verma (8), Anantra Verma (35), Harkesh Verma  (45), Rajshree Verma (35) Ragini Verma (20) and Asha Verma (12), police said.
