Around 15 huts were gutted in fire in Mumbai's Thane locality

The huts were on Monday gutted in Bhim Nagar locality of Vartak Nagar area and six fire engines were rushed to the spot as it was doused after about two hours.

THANE: At-least 15 huts were on Monday gutted in a major fire in Bhim Nagar locality of Vartak Nagar area here, a senior civic official said.

The blaze erupted this afternoon, but there were no casualties, Thane Municipal Corporation's Chief Fire Officer Sashikant Kale told PTI.

He said the exact cause of the fire was being ascertained.

"After the fire started from a hut, occupants of the nearby huts ran out and saved themselves," Kale said.

According to the official, six fire engines were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused after about two hours.
