MUMBAI: Another MLA from Maharashtra resigned today in support of the Maratha quota demand.

Abdul Sattar (Congress), who represents Sillod Assembly seat in Aurangabad district, has sent a letter to Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde.

Sattar stated that he was quitting, as the state government has not taken any decision regarding allotting reservation to Marathas, Muslim, Dhangar and Mahadev Koli communities.

Five MLAs had resigned last week for the quota demand.

They are: Bharat Bhalke (Congress), Rahul Aher (BJP), Dattatraya Bharne (NCP), Harshvardhan Jadhav (Shiv Sena) and Bhausaheb Patil Chikatgaonkar (NCP).

Aurangabad was the epicentre of Maratha protests last week.

Marathas, a politically-influential community constituting around 30 per cent of the state's population, have been agitating to press their demand for reservation in government jobs and education.
