Authorities of the SAT Hospital here have reported to the police an incident wherein a teenager, hailing from Kottarakkara in Kollam district, gave birth to a baby boy on Monday last.
The 13-year-old girl,a Class VIII student, was admitted to the hospital here on September 20 in an advanced state of pregnancy, with severe complications.
“Parents of the girl were unwilling to register a complaint,though attempts were made on the basis of the information passed on by the SAT Hospital authorities,” said Medical College police CI Pramod.
“Though there was no formal complaint,a statement from the girl, dropping hints of sexual exploitation by the perpetrator will do for registering a case. But the girl was hesitant to speak out like her parents,thus bringing down the scope of strengthening a suo moto case. The girl is in a shattered state of mind,” the police said.
Parents of the girl reportedly told the hospital authorities, at the time of admission, that they strongly suspected that the girl was drugged by someone before subjecting her to the sexual act and making her pregnant but held back the identity of the suspect.
“The parents are only keen to save their daughter at any cost,” sources said.Meanwhile,the condition of the three day-old baby boy is stated to be critical.
