New train services, revised time schedule from today

Southern Railway has revised the timetable of trains operating under the Thiruvananthapuram division and introduced new trains with effect from July 1.  The new trains are: Thiruvananthapuram - Hazrat Nizamuddin Super Fast Exp (weekly, Wednesday) via Konkan Railway, Mangalore Jn., Vadodara, Kota, Mathura ; Kochuveli - Lokamanya Tilak Superfast Express (Bi-weekly, Monday and Thursday) via Konkan Railway, Mangalore Jn, Shoranur Jn, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam;

Visakhapatnam- Kollam Exp (weekly, Thursday) via Vijayawada, Guntur, Renigunta, Arakkonam bypass, Jolarpettai, Coimbatore, Kottayam.  Bangalore City - Nagercoil Exp (daily) via Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Madurai, Tirunelveli; Puducherry - Kanyakumari Exp (weekly, Thursday) via Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruchchirappalli, Manamadurai, Virudunagar, Tirunelveli;

 The trains to be introduced are: Punalur - Kollam passenger, Kozhikode - Thrissur, Guruvayur - Thrissur, Ernakulam - Kollam via Alappuzha (six days) and a Memu service between Ernakulam - Kollam.  The trains which will be extended are; Guwahati - Ernakulam Exp (Weekly) to Thiruvananthapuram via Ernakulam Town, Thiruvananthapuram - Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Exp (5 days, except Wednesday and Sunday) to Kannur.  The passenger trains which will be extended are: Madurai- Kollam Passenger, (daily) to Punalur, Ernakulam - Thrissur Memu (6 days) to Palakkad and Kollam - Nagercoil Memu (6 days) to Kanyakumari.  The frequency of Kochuveli - Chandigarh Kerala Sampark Kranti Exp will be increased from weekly to bi-weekly (Monday and Saturday). The frequency of the following trains will be extended from six days to daily trains: Tirunelveli - Nagercoil passenger, Nagercoil - Kanyakumari passenger and Kanyakumari - Tirunelveli passenger. The frequency of Bangalore - Kochuveli Express will be increased to 6 days a week.

With effect from September 4, 2013, Kochuveli - Bangalore Express and from September 5, 2013, Bangalore - Kochuveli Express will run daily.  Consequently T’Puram - Bangalore (weekly) Express will be cancelled from September 4. On introduction of Bangalore - Nagercoil Express, Bangalore- Nagercoil (weekly) Express will be cancelled.
