THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Students and colleagues of Kilimanoor R Thyagarajan, a former professor at Sri Swathi Thirunal Music College, will organise his 70th birthday celebrations at the college on April 3.
Thyagarajan was a professor at the college for 28 years and is the only one from the state to earn Akashavani’s B High Grade in violin recital.
The function is slated to begin at 9 am with a violin recital.
It will be inaugurated by Health Minister V S Sivakumar. Parassala B Ponnammal, K Omanakutty, P P Ramakrishnan, Lekha Thankachi and S Balambal are expected to attend.
Retired IAS officer R Ramachandran Nair will release a 22-minute documentary on R Thyagarajan titled ‘Thyagarajam’. Works composed by the professor will be performed on the day.
