Ration Shops to be Shut Tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Retail Ration Dealers’ Association will shut down ration shops and take out marches to the respective taluk offices across the state on Monday.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the association office-bearers alleged that the government had turned a blind eye to the demands of ration dealers who are struggling to make both ends meet.

Among the demands of the  dealers are increasing commission, door delivery of sugar and atta, reducing the pension age from 65 to 60 and rising the pension amount from Rs 500 to Rs 1500.

They alleged that despite the government’s assurance on meeting the demands of ration dealers nothing has been done so far.
