Chandy Confers Reality Show Award on Kanjikkuzhi CDS

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday presented awards to Kudumbashree Community Development Societies (CDS) for various achievements in the Doordarshan reality show Ini Njangal Parayam, at a function here.

All praise for the Kudumbashree Mission, Chandy said the venture has been productive in its activities and a model for the state.

At the panchayat level, Idukki Kanjikkuzhi CDS came first. Kozhikode Chathamangalam CDS and Palakkad Althur CDS bagged the second and third positions respectively. Malappuram CDS and Kasargod CDS finished first and second at the municipality level.

In the category of best sustainable development model, Vazhikadavu CDS of Malappuram bagged first place by successfully implementing its project on widow rehabilitation. Thrissur Nadathara CDS secured second position for best group farming activity. Palakkad Sreekrishnapuram CDS grabbed third place for its efforts in formulating activities for children and adolescents.

Social Justice Minister M K Muneer in his address said the reality show made it possible to showcase the multiple activities that Kudumbashree has been implementing in different sectors of society. The winners were selected by an expert panel comprising former Additional Chief Secretary Nivedita P Haran, Laurie Baker Centre for Habitat Studies chairman K P Kannan, Calicut University Women’s Studies department head Mini Sukumar and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College community medicine additional Dr P S Indu.
