THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: TRANS, a photo-documentary by photojournalist P Abhijith throws light on the hardships being faced by transgenders across the country. Social Justice Minister M K Muneer on Tuesday inaugurated the documentary that portrays the challenges, lifestyle, education, sexuality, love life, existence and traditions of transgenders.
Over 100 stills captured over a period of eight years are entwined in the making of the 41-minute documentary. Muneer said the state government would do everything for the welfare of transgenders. Gender activist and writer A Revathi said that Abhijith had taken much pain to make the photo-documentary a reality. “He has captured our life in all its magnitude,” Revathi said.
Theatre artist and social activist Angel Glady, who was also present at the function, said that the photo-documentary gives a clear picture of the life of transgenders.
