THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Election Commission (SEC) will revise the voters’ list for the newly constituted 28 municipalities and Kannur Corporation as per the 2015 ward delimitation.
The revised voters’ list as per the 2015 delimitation will also be applicable for the Kollam Municipal Corporation, municipalities of Taliparamba and Neeleswaram and the grama panchayats of Karthikapally, Pallippad, Chingoli (Alappuzha), Thrikkadeeri, Thenkara (Palakkad) and Padanna (Kasaragod).
The final voters’ list published on September 7 by the parent local body, from which the new local bodies have been formed, will be the basis of the new voters’ list.
The electoral registration officers and assistant electoral registration officers have been tasked with revising the voters’ list, the SEC said in a release.
The online facility to revise the voters’ list has been provided by the National Informatics Centre. After transferring the voters to the polling stations of the new wards, the final voters’ list will be published on September 30.
Online facility will be provided from October 1 to 5 by which the voters can enrol their names in the voters’ list.
Reserved Constituencies
The reserved constituencies in various block panchayats will be decided through draw of lots on Monday, the SEC said.The Commission has issued notifications asking the District Collector to choose the reserved constituencies.
