Rating the restaurants with Metro Food Awards

A panel of industry leaders and experts will constitute the jury, which will undertake a rigorous multi-stage process of pre-scoring to shortlist

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Metro Food Awards - 2016 which will be held at  Mascot Hotel on December 7 will celebrate the best restaurants in the city. The awards will have different categories.

All types of restaurants in the city will be rated. Nominations for the awards will be based on criteria such as: the establishment should be based within the city of Thiruvananthapuram; the restaurants should be open and cater to the public till the time the awards are announced; the restaurants should have all appropriate food licences and clearances that are a must from the government authorities; and, the food prepared and delivered to the customers at the participating restaurants should be hygienic at all costs. 


A panel of industry leaders and experts will constitute the jury, which will undertake a rigorous multi-stage process of pre-scoring to shortlist, monitor SMS voting by the public, mystery shopping, before judging the entries to decide the winners, said the organiser Metro Mart Creative and Events.


The Metro Food Awards-2016 is being organised in association with Kerala Tourism, Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), South Kerala Hotelier’s Forum (SKHF), and TCCI.


Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran will inaugurate the award function at 4 pm. The awards will be given away by P Thilothaman, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies.
Mercykutty Amma, Minister for Fisheries, Harbour Engineering and Cashew Industry, will launch a discount card called, Sunday Card.


The function will be presided over by K Muraleedharan, MLA. Dr Venu V, Principal Secretary, Kerala Tourism, will be the chief guest.
