Abandoned vehicles and unhygienic atmosphere at the police stations will soon fade away as the state police have decided to clean all the police stations as part of the state government’s ‘Haritha Keralam Mission’ project, beginning on Thursday. 

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Abandoned vehicles and unhygienic atmosphere at the police stations will soon fade away as the state police have decided to clean all the police stations as part of the state government’s ‘Haritha Keralam Mission’ project, beginning on Thursday. 


State Police Chief Loknath Behera said the police department would be a vital part of the prestigious project and all the police stations were instructed to follow the green protocol. 


“Kerala Police will play a major role in the project. It has been decided to organise several programmes at every police stations and related offices to ensure hygienic and eco-friendly environment. I have given instructions to the officials,” Behera said in a statement.


“State police will fully co-operate with the government to ensure a clean environment across the state,” he said. 


The police will initiate effective steps to enhance awareness among the public, mapping and sensible registration of cases to avoid air and water pollution in respective station limits. 


This will be implemented in all the districts and the respective DySP and Circle Inspectors will oversee the activities.


The officers will also check whether the case records at the stations have kept in order and the abandoned vehicles on the station premises have been removed. 
Special rewards will be given to police stations which follow the instructions properly. Behera also instructed the respective zonal ADGPs and range IGs to ensure successful implementation of the project.
