Kudumbashree, KMRL sign MoU on station management

Nearly 300 women belonging to the various Kudumbashree units will get jobs in the first phase of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nearly 300 women belonging to the various Kudumbashree units will get jobs in the first phase of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kudumbashree for the management of KMRL station premises, including ticketing, customer relations,  housekeeping, parking management and running the Metro canteens was signed here on Sunday.  

LSG Minister K T Jaleel, who met reporters after signing the MoU, said the members of Kudumbashree units and other members of their family will be considered for the jobs based on their qualifications, which are required for the set jobs.  “Along with that, transgenders who meet the required eligibility criteria will be considered. The wages will be finalised as per the nature of the jobs. Further discussions in this regard will be held later,” he added.

The various Kudumbashree Units in various places along the Metro rail corridor will be given opportunities to work in KMRL. Earlier, Kudumabshree executive director Harikishore handed over the MoU to KMRL director (systems) Praveen Goyal in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
