Row over death of Kadakampally Cooperative Bank employee

Congress, BJP leaders express doubts over the death of Jayasankar, an employee of the cooperative bank amidst allegations of black money stashed in the bank

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid allegations of black money parked in Kadakampally Cooperative Bank, the death of an employee of the bank has kicked up a row. BJP state general secretary K Surendran and Congress leaders expressed doubts over the death and demanded a probe into the incident.
Jayasankar, an employee of the bank was found dead at his residence in the early hours of Sunday. Though the hospital authorities said he died of cardiac arrest, Congress and BJP leaders alleged that the death was suspicious.

KPCC secretary Jyothikumar Chamakkala filed a complaint with State Police Chief Loknath Behera on Sunday demanding a probe into the illegal bank accounts in Kadakampally Co-operative Bank and the mysterious death.

In his complaint, Jyothikumar demanded the police should investigate the financial transactions in the bank since the demonetisation drive and the death of Jayasankar. There is mystery behind the death and there could be some links with the ‘unaccounted’ cash deposits in the bank.

He said bank president SP Deepak had a lengthy telephone discussion with the official on Thursday night. Call details of the bank president and the deceased staff should be investigated. Chamakkala also called for a probe into the alleged black money deposits of Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran’s relatives in the bank.
However, CPM district committee defended the minister. In a press statement, CPM district secretary Anavoor Nagappan said theat BJP leader K Surendran’s response was uncalled for and inhumane.

Jayasankar was found dead at his residence on Sunday morning. Following this, Surendran said police should investigate the mysterious death of Jayasankar, who was a staff of Kadakampally co-operative bank.
Slamming Surendran, Nagappan said the BJP leader should clarify his statement.
“The bank president has already clarified that the bank administration was not averse to any kind of investigation. Surendran should make efforts to seek a probe by central investigating agencies,” said Nagappan.
