Time for some great Christmas

Actor Tovino Thomas, of Guppy fame, who is in the midst of shooting Oru Mexican Aparatha, says he is looking forward to spending the entire day with his family. “As a rule, we love celebrations and don’t miss out on any opportunity to enjoy them -- be it Onam, Easter, or Christmas.

Thankfully, I have only missed Christmas once so far and think myself lucky to be with my family during this time,” he says. Tovino also adds that it was he who reintroduced the tradition of baking cakes in his family. “I love cooking. My mom stopped baking when our oven broke down. I resumed this tradition four years ago and we (wife, brother, sister and their families) experiment every year during Christmas,” he adds.

Honey Rose, who has just completed shooting for the comedy, Avarude Raavukal, is super-excited about the Christmas celebrations this year since it will be accompanied by moving to a new house. “Generally, Christmas celebrations are low-key at our family.

However, this year, we are all excited about moving to our new home at Moolamattom in Thodupuzha,” she said. “I don’t think our celebrations will involve a cake this year. It will be more of an event, with appam and stew,” she smiles.

Playback singer Renjini Jose, who loves the month of December best, has musical memories of Christmas from her childhood. “I always credit my Christmas memories to teachers at the convent, in Chennai, where I studied. I often dressed up as Mary and the Christmas tree.” Over the years, at her father’s house in Perumbavoor, Christmas was always spent with family.

“However, once I became a singer, it became difficult for me to spend time with them, but still I try to keep off programmes on that day,” she says. “Christmas is associated with the New Year, a time when hope and joy come together.”

I am looking forward to eating food cooked by my grandmother this Christmas. It is always special every year
