THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM would not protect those would indulge in goonda activities, party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Tuesday.  He told reporters here that such people would not have any role in the party.

Kodiyeri demanded that there should be a situation for journalists to work in a fearless manner. “Those who prevent journalists from entering courts should not be given the consideration of an advocate. It should be viewed as a criminal activity,” he said adding that the CPM did not support the media ban. Advocates continuing with their attack should not be accepted, he reminded.

Jacob Thomas should continue

To questions on Vigilance Chief Jacob Thomas, Kodiyeri said that he was an official who had taken strong action against corruption. The government was of the view that he should continue as the Vigilance director. It is for the court that should take a call on the allegations against him, Kodiyeri added.

With the Bengaluru court verdict the allegations against former CM Oommen Chandy has been proven true, Kodiyeri said. Chandy’s arguments would not stand before the public, he added.
