THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than 2,500 runners hit the streets of Thiruvanathapuram as part of ‘SBI LifeTrivandRUN-17’, the fourth edition of the annual charity run hosted by the city based charity organisation Save a Rupee Spread a Smile (SARSAS). The run organised to raise funds for financially needy patients suffering from critical diseases has raised Rs ten lakh through the charity run.
The money collected will be handed over to KNOS- Mrithasanjeevani to help financially needy patients for organ transplantation. As a token of support to the initiative Air Marshal S Neelkanatan, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command, donated Rs one lakh to the charity fund.
Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy flagged off the Corporate Run the other day. State Police Chief Loknath Behra along with actor Gokul Suresh Gopi, MLA, flagged off the 10 km Endurance Run. The two Km Fun Run was flagged off by G Subhash Babu, Regional Director SBI Life Insurance.
Dinoop P D and Kedar came first and second respectively in the 10 km Endurance Run male category while Akshaya and Neethu finished top in the female category. Team D+H finished first in the Corporate Run while Team Envestnet and Team SunTec finished as the first and second runners up respectively.
Apart from Corporate teams, students from various schools and colleges also took part in the initiative. A total of 1,200 runners took part in the endurance run while more than 1,300 people turned up for the Fun Run.
Air Marshal Neelakantan LNCPE Principal G Kishore, Subhash Babu, distributed prizes to the winners under various categories. The first 30 runners to complete the Endurance Run were given finishing certificate by SAI- LNCPE. All other runners were given participation certificate.
